South African lotteries: review 2020.03.02-08

Hope you are doing well! We are happy to share the results of the main lotteries in South Africa which took part last week (2 March-8 March). Some interesting trends can be surely spotted here!

There were two draws last week (Wednesday, 4 March and Saturday, 7 March). Similarly as last week, no one won the jackpot (6 numbers) across both draws. However, there were still some great results. One of the players scored the 2nd best combination (5 numbers + BONUS) on the game which took place on Saturday. This prize was worth R113,382.7! Overall, the chance to win prizes in this lottery (at least R20) was 1 in 96 - it would be a good idea to consider playing next week.

Another popular lottery had its two draws last week: one on Tuesday (3 March) and one on Friday (6 March). There were no winners of the main jackpot (5 numbers plus POWERBALL) across these draws, yet 2 players got the second best result (5 numbers). This combination was worth R401,847.8 on Tuesday and R475,494.8 on Friday. The probability of getting this prize was 1 in 1,286,062 during both draws.

Powerball Plus draws were set on the same days as Powerball last week: Tuesday (3 March) and Friday (6 March). There were also no winners of the jackpot (5 numbers + POWERBALL) across both draws. But some moments were enjoyable: for example, on Tuesday’s draw, 3 players won R64,209.3 (the second best prize for 5 correct numbers) each and on Friday, 1 player won R221,599.2. The probability to win these second best prizes was exactly the same as in the original version of Powerball - 1 in 1,286,062.

Lotto Plus 1 was on air two times last week: Wednesday (4 March) and Saturday (7 March). There were no winners of the jackpot. However, we are happy to announce that 2 players received the second best prize (5 numbers + BONUS). This happened during both Wednesday and Saturday draws - the prizes were worth R171,905.6 and R192,491.4 respectively. The chance to get this prize was 1 in 3,393,087 across both draws. Meanwhile, the jackpot had a much lower probability of winning - 1 in 20,358,520.

Finally, the draws of Lotto Plus 2 were live on Wednesday (4 March) and Saturday (7 March) as well. Although there were not any winners of the jackpot (6 numbers) across both draws, 1 player won the second best prize on Wednesday. For collecting 5 right numbers and an extra BONUS number, this person won R145,609.8. The chance to get this prize was 1 in 3393087.
